Our Little Girl, the birth story.

So, I wasn't completely sure if i was in labour on Sunday afternoon (Apr 11th). Since last time I never noticed my water break, my doc said that if I wasn't sure that I should go into the hospital and get checked out if I suspected it had happened. So that's what we did. It turns out that my water had broken during the night. So I was admitted that afternoon even though nothing seemed to be happening.

I got some medication to hopefully start things moving along. We watched a couple of movies, went for coffee at the Tim's in the hospital lobby, and then tried to get a little sleep. All of a sudden the nursing staff descended on our room, apparently the baby's heart rate had dipped dangerously.

From that point on things moved very quickly. I was whisked off to the operating room for an emergency c-section. It would have been scary but things happened too fast to really think about anything. Baby Keira came out wailing at 12:45 am on April 12th. As soon as we heard her we knew she was just fine!

So now we're all at home and enjoying life with our 2 little ones.

Update

So it's been awhile since I posted... a few updates for you:

- My thesis is finally finished! I am graduating this spring and my convocation date is June 3.
- I had my little girl on April 12th via emergency c-section. She's doing great!
- E has been accepted into the MBA program at UVictoria so we'll be moving west in July.
- Our basement reno is still in progress and we also have some reno's to do in the main level in order to have everything ready to rent out when we leave town.

More details on the little girl to follow!

Draft 2 of Thesis Completed

Well folks, I just finished the 2nd draft of my thesis. This darn thing has been consuming my life lately! I'm feeling pretty accomplished about the whole thing. Of course I still need to meet with my advisor and find out what changes I need to make for draft 3.

Other than that, not too much excitement... eat, sleep, work, play (mainly indoors because I abhor Winnipeg winters).

Happy New Year!

It's been quite a year for us! We bought a house and moved in February. I went back to work in April. We finally got K settled into the daycare of our choice in September after going through a few temporary childcare options.

We (and I really mean E) spent way too much time renovating a house in spring and well into summer. Sadly this one was a bust and we didn't make any money. It may be a very long time before we even consider doing another renovation, if ever.

In July we spent a cold rainy week out in the Whiteshell in a cabin. K took his first steps while I was out of the room.

In early December we took a cruise in the Carribean with E's parents. It was amazing, the most wonderful weather I've ever encountered! We didn't really want to come back to Canada. So naturally we dreaming about owning a winter home in some tropical area... dreams are free right?!

All during which I've been plugging away at my MSW thesis, sometimes more diligently than others. As of now, I'm working on my 2nd draft. It's going pretty well at this point.

E is still working for the provincial government and I'm still working at the university, so not everything changes.

However, this next year we will have a big change, a baby girl in April (unless she's really early). We are so excited to have a little sister for K! We've already gotten out of our small car lease and bought a mini van. Yep, full fledged parent mode these days!

So the things I'm looking forward to this year... well lots of things! Having our little girl join the family, finishing my thesis, and doing some creative writing on topics other than the one I've been on for the past couple of years!

hmmm

Am contemplating laying the blog to rest, at least for awhile. Maybe I'll see you all in the new year.
